The UWT Story
The University of Western Topeka has developed from beginnings more humble than arguably any other top institution of higher learning in North America. In 1978, an as-yet unidentified male transient sneaked into a chemistry laboratory at a local community college one night to sleep and, because he had nothing else to do, read textbooks throughout the night and could teach at a college level by morning. He offered tutoring services through a post-it note at a grocery store community events board, and from there, the university was born.

UWT's mission is to provide an inexpensive but adequate education to our students in a relatively safe environment as they "quack their way to success" under the tutelage of professors with at least a minimum background in the subject they teach. We offer:

UWT and the Future
As a result of the UWT 2012 program, we expect to be ranked within the top 5 universities in the world by 2015, and will also be the top ranked university in Topeka. The UWT 2012 page on our website lists some of the myriad of changes undertaken to achieve this goal.
