UWT Law: Finding a Dean for a Potentially Top School
The search for the UWT Law Dean will be unlike any other academic search committee in history. Working with the producers of some of the top reality and game shows on television (such as Fear Factor and Deal or No Deal), UWT will introduce a popular, qualified candidate within the next few years. We anticipate that this deal will create millions of dollars in revenue for the University, much of which will be used to help offset the cost of creating a top 10 law school. It is thought to be the first live-streamed, audience-driven academic hiring decision in Kansas.

1) First, applicants will have their CVs and applications posted online. Over the course of a few weeks, visitors to the website may vote to advance an applicant to the next round.
2) Next, the top 10-15 applicants (as decided by the percentage of reviewers rating an applicant positively) are offered Skype interviews live-streamed over the internet, with a rolling banner at the bottom of the screen offering live reactions from Twitter (#UWTlaw), visible to not only the audience, but also to the applicant and the committee members themselves.
3) Then, 3-5 finalists will be brought to Topeka and interviewed by the committee in a live streamed session, with committee members supplementing their own questions with randomly selected questions sent in by the viewing audience (audience members can increase the likelihood of their question being asked by making a donation to the University endowment). All but two candidates will be sent home in a gradual process of elimination through viewer voting.
4) Finally, the two finalists will then compete in a multidimensional head to head finale designed to test their critical thinking skills, physical endurance, sense of humor, and general knowledge, all before a live studio audience of UWT students, faculty, and donors. The highest scorer at the end of the finale will then be formally offered the job of UWT Law Dean, subject to the approval of President Tešanović.*
*The president's office has veto power over the selection, but only insofar as it may reject the audience's selection; it may not reject the audience selection in favor of another candidate or the runner up. Should the president's office elect to make this decision, the process would begin again from scratch.
